Through the Giovo Pass towards Andreas Hofer’s birthplace
The Giovo Pass (2.094 m) connects the Alta Val D’Isarco, near Vipiteno, to the picturesque Val Passiria. A beautiful one-day excursion on a typical mountain road; a memorable experience. Enjoy the enchanting view and breath in the pure and crispy mountain breeze.
Having reached the Pass, continue downwards into the idyllic Val Passiria with its authentic mountain huts. When you reach San Leonardo in Passiria we strongly recommend you visit the Sandwirt, birthplace of Andreas Hofer, a hero who fought for Tyrol’s freedom. The Sandwirth is now a tradional restaurant where you’ll be able to taste the best South Tyrolean specialties before heading back to Chienes via the thermal town of Merano.
